Based in Helsinki, Finland, FEMTO offers the world's only DME unlock service for BMW models built after 06/2020. Once your DME is unlocked, you'll be able to help your car reach its full potential using tuning platforms such as bootmod3, MHD Tuning, MG Flasher and more.
Introducing the DME Unlock service provided by FEMTO in Finland. All BMW, MINI and Toyota GR Supra models with a production date on or after 06/2020 require the FEMTO unlock before any flash-based tuning is possible. At this time, these models cannot be bench unlocked in-house.
Once your MEVD17.x.x and MG1 series DME is unlocked, OBD based flash tuning will be possible on platforms such as bootmod3 (BM3), MHD Tuning, MG Flasher and more.

WHY DO I NEED A FEMTO DME UNLOCK?
Starting in June 2020, all BMW, MINI and Toyota Supra DMEs were produced with an updated bootloader that made OBD flash tuning using existing protocols impossible. Currently, as the community still anxiously waits for a localised DME Unlock for MG1 DMEs, there is a solution available. FEMTO, a company offering a mail-in service called the FEMTO DME Unlock, can unlock your DME, enabling OBD flash tuning and programming.
Unlock Process Outline (Mail-In)*
Purchase the FEMTO DME Unlock from our store. This includes the DME unlock service and international shipping to and from SouthernBM. The return shipping cost for your DME is covered, but the cost of removing and sending your DME to us is not included.
For those planning on running bootmod3 (BM3) CustomROM, you must create an account and activate your vehicle license prior to removing your DME.
Remove your DME from your vehicle.
Send your DME to our Moorabbin facility for preparation/dispatching.
Wait 10-15 business days for your DME to be shipped to Finland, unlocked and returned to us.
Your DME will then be tested/inspected and returned to you.
Re-install the DME into your vehicle and ensure everything is functioning properly.
Deactivate remote software updates.
Flash the vehicle with your chosen tuning platform.
*An in-house DME removal service is also available to Melbourne customers for an additional cost. Please contact us for further information.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A tuning license for bootmod3, MHD Tuning or MG Flasher is NOT included in the purchase price of the FEMTO DME Unlock. A BM3 tuning license can additionally be purchased here.
For those using bootmod3, a BM3 License & VIN must be activated before sending us your DME. BM3 CustomROM will not be able to load if your license is not activated and VIN of your car is not in the BM3 user database.
bootmod3 CustomROM includes features such as map switching, flex fuel, antilag, in-dash ethanol content display on the RPM gauge, and more for most B48, B58 and S58 models. Please contact us directly for further information.
MHD+ is MHD Tuning’s latest custom code, offering features like map switching, anti-lag, flex fuel, live tuning, Reflex integration, TCU limiter removal, and more for all S58 and Gen2 B58 cars. Before sending in your DME, please connect to the MHD app and press the 'Unlock Check' button to verify that your software version supports MHD+ features, or contact MHD support.
Models that already have Remote Start activated will retain the function at no cost. This option will not activate Remote Start on models that do not already have it.
BMW 'Over The Air' (OTA) remote software updates must be disabled to prevent accidental tune removal, in which an FEMTO DME Unlock will again be required. If your DME is relocked, the same unlocking procedure and cost will apply.
Your DME will be shipped to FEMTO via DHL Express, where it will be unlocked and returned to our facility in Moorabbin, Victoria. The normal turnaround time for this service approx. 10-15 business days, but further delays outside of our control are possible.
N63TU and S63TU V8 models have two DMEs that must be unlocked which incurs an additional cost. Please ensure you select the suitable unlock service for your vehicle at checkout and have both DMEs sent to us.
SouthernBM bares no responsibility for any DMEs that are improperly shipped to us and found to be damaged or faulty upon arrival.
