Car makers invest more than time into building a car that works. They invest millions of dollars in equipment to build a car to a quality point their customer base expects. It’s no secret that German car makers have some of the highest quality machines to build their high quality cars.
BMW is well up there when it comes to quality control before the car is sold. But their after sales service levels can only do so much when owners don’t keep the servicing and maintenance levels up where the company knows their cars will be fine.
It’s fair to say that more complicated parts and systems in cars can be more prone to having issues, so here are a few tips and pointers to help you keep your BMW in its best possible condition.
Service intervals
All cars have a recommended timespan for when minor and major services should be performed. From basic checks of items such as air conditioning, transmission and differential fluids, to major inspections of electronically and hydraulically controlled components. However, it’s also sensible to have the vehicle checked over more regularly than the standard BMW service schedule.
The benefits of getting your BMW checked more regularly include being able to monitor the progress of any issues that may be arising, and being able to get to them early enough so that there is a reduced risk of costly repairs.
SouthernBM offer interim servicing which includes an oil and filter change, a vehicle check and a fault code scan.
Visual inspections
It’s something that takes sixty seconds of a day and can really help avoid any potential upcoming problem. Most of us go shopping at least once a week. Take that minute to walk around the car, have a look underneath, have a listen to the car’s noises when starting up, turning the steering wheel, raising and lowering the windows with the radio off. If anything looks or sounds odd in your BMW, make a list and book it in for an inspection.
Make A Calendar Note
Technology has given us portable computing in the form of a tablet or smartphone, and these handy devices have a built in calendar. These allow us to pop in a reminder note such as a friend’s birthday or to book a doctor’s checkup. Why not schedule a reminder for servicing or even just, like a doctor’s appointment, a booking to get your BMW a once over.
