Better tyres, turbos, superchargers, nitrous injection, heads with porting for better in and out breathing are all now readily available.
It comes as no surprise that car makers have their own performance range and BMW’s M Division is a shining example. Not only can one buy a M car, there are M parts to suit most of the cars being sold.
For the 1 Series BMW a rear roof-lid spoiler can be bought. It’s injection moulded in black ABS plastic allowing a buyer to have it painted in their car’s body colour. Head to the 2 Series Gran Coupe and a choice of options such as a new mesh styled kidney grille for both good looks and a change of airflow into the radiator. Fancy yourself as a gun steerer? An alcantara covered steering wheel can be specified. The material provides more grip and there’s a distinctive red stripe at the top for keeping an eye on a relative point in a track day steer.
18 and 19 inch M performance alloy wheels with their own bespoke designs complement body colours and offer 225/40 & 235/35 rubber options.

BMW ECU Tuning
Our relationship with premium ECU (Electronic Control Unit) tuning company, ESS Tuning, means our software upgrades, developed in conjunction with ESS, means your car’s engine can be “told” to be more fuel efficient whilst providing more performance. Of course, they’re all right-foot applicable when it comes to economy,
The driving modes; Sport, Normal, Economy, are all recalibrated, and the throttle mapping for when power and torque delivery make for a more driveable experience and tuned to your desires.
To take advantage of the reflashed Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ECU, reworked engines with better intakes and exhausts, plus different turbos and intercoolers are needed. Performance engines breathe in deeply, and exhale hard. Reworked performance engines do these harder and having a better flow of in to out works hand in hand with the ECU. Intercoolers help keep things as cool as possible as extra performance can generate extra heat under the bonnet.
BMW Exhausts
When it comes to finding a way to get rid of the hot air, we supply a range of exhausts specifically made for BMW. We can provide new systems from Eisenmann, Akrapovic, AC Schnitzer and BMW’s own M Performance.
Performance cars have performance drivers and they’ll explore the limits of a car’s ability to hang on when on the black stuff. Track days and driver education sessions can really push a car and driver, so upgraded suspension components mean those limits can be pushed further and harder. SouthernBM supply kits from companies such as the renowned Eibach, plus KW Suspensions, ST Suspensions, and AC Schnitzer.
BMW Performance Brakes
So far there’s been plenty to get up and go and enjoy that go. But safety means better stopping to match the go is required. Bigger discs to fit inside the wheels, performance brake pads, and we choose to use the world famous Brembo brand here. Need bigger rolling stock? We do bigger wheels to fit those Brembo parts too.
BMW Exterior Parts
Much like the people that head to Canberra in early January for a certain car festival, which are full of engine and paint upgrades, we also like to smarten up the exterior of BMWs with new add-on parts. Super-strong and lightweight carbon fibre parts from AC Schnitzer and Stercken are eye-catching, stylish, and classy.
There are times, although we can’t think of when, that a driver might want to dial it back and enjoy some sounds not of the engine or exhaust. Bavsound can upgrade the audio in your car for clearer higher, crisp vocals, and gut thumping bass.
