Philosophy / Engineering
Engine tuning and performance upgrades have a long tradition at AC Schnitzer. To be on the safe side however, we prefer not to extract the maximum possible power but instead ensure greater robustness, which means a longer life of the engine. Many of our performance upgrades are therefore designed for an increase in torque rather than an increase in horsepower. Because torque is what you feel when for example you're "pressed back in the seat" on pulling away. Petrol The performance upgrade consists of a control unit for retrofitting into the vehicle. The control unit ensures that the data is processed depending on the speed and accelerator pedal position and the values for boost pressure, track pressure and air mass are passed on to the standard engine control unit. The parameters are slightly increased by the AC Schnitzer performance increase. This results in a model-dependent power increase of up to 20% of the engine and increases the efficiency of the engine. During development, it is checked in which speed range the highest torque increase is achieved. This is followed by a controlled reduction of the changed parameters for the high speed range >5000 rpm. This prevents the engine from overheating during long, fast journeys. The standard protection parameters for the engine are retained with the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade. In addition, the AC Schnitzer performance increase also has extensive additional parameters for protecting the engine and drive train, such as cold-start and overheating control.
Cold Start Control
The AC Schnitzer performance upgrades are only activated from approx. 1000 rpm and from an oil temperature of 80° C.
Overload / Overheating Control
From a water temperature of 115° C, the output is automatically regulated back to the series output.
Extensively Tested
AC Schnitzer performance upgrades undergo extensive test series on race tracks, test benches and in daily traffic. These test series last up to 9 months and several 10,000 km.
WARRANTY / HOMOLOGATION INFORMATION
Performance Upgrade Installed - What Happens To My Warranty?
For all AC Schnitzer performance upgrades, AC Schnitzer provides a warranty 5 years from the date of first registration and up to 120,000 km mileage on the assemblies moved by the engine. For M models, this warranty ends at 80,000 km. The warranty is free of charge for our customers. This gives you reassurance in the event of an incident. Homologation Certificate
The parts homologation certificate is an official document which allows the use of tuning parts in public road traffic within the framework of the (StVZO) German road traffic licensing regulations (and some other countries). After installation or conversion of the part described in the certificate, the vehicle must be presented to an official inspection body. The inspector determines the correct installation and the authenticity of the part and subsequently enters the modification in the vehicle documents. The official operating license of the vehicle thus remains in force. The parts homologation certificate is part of the scope of delivery.

Philosophy / Engineering
Original AC Schnitzer high performance silencers are made from stainless steel with different tailpipes. They all offer - especially in combination with an AC Schnitzer performance upgrade - a sporty, effective overall package. A sonorous sound (cars with petrol engines) and a sporty appearance are always scope of delivery. The Certificates of Authenticity of the original AC Schnitzer silencers and original AC Schnitzer tailpipes guarantee maximum safety and highest quality.
Greater Agility
With an original AC Schnitzer silencer specially designed for your engine, you benefit from an improved, more direct response as the exhaust gases are flowing quickly and the engine is free to develop its full power. The improved flow of exhaust gases allows your car's engine to work more efficiently and "breathe" properly. This can improve the engine performance.
Greater Driving Pleasure
Even in the lower rpm ranges, the system emits a characteristic, sporting sonorous note.
Increased Safety
The original AC Schnitzer silencers are made from V2A stainless steel for very long life and optimum resistance to corrosion.
FOUR DEVELOPMENT CRITERIA OF THE AC SCHNITZER SILENCER SYSTEM
1. Sound Engineering
Every vehicle undergoes separate sound development in the sound laboratory before the exhaust systems are tested in all possible rev ranges, both indoors and outside, and on a drive-by. The extensive test runs take place on race tracks and on public roads.
2. Precision Fit
Before finalizing the resonance body, the underfloor of the model concerned is analysed for construction space. Then the resonance body is defined precisely with all standard fixing points. These are then checked for all vehicle types and engine variants. To obtain the best performance development for torque and power, it is important to ensure a reduction in exhaust backpressure and at the same time determine the optimum flow paths. Last but not least, the development of the aerodynamics in the rear skirt region is optimally adapted to the exhaust system and tailpipe variants.
3. Range
The exhaust range offered by AC Schnitzer starts with tailpipe trims, extends through silencers and twin silencers, through to complete systems including optimised metal catalytic converters, to ensure optimum power development.
4. Material / Quality
Only the highest quality stainless steel materials are used in all AC Schnitzer exhaust systems.
