The plug-and-play Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module | Single Valve has been developed exclusively for compatible BMW and BMW M (F-Series & G-Series) models equipped with one factory electronic exhaust valve actuator.
BMW’s factory exhaust valve programming is designed to balance sound, refinement and everyday drivability rather than deliver maximum exhaust volume at all times. Even in the sportiest driving modes, the vehicle continues to adjust the valve according to engine speed, load and operating conditions. As a result, the valve never fully opens, preventing the exhaust system from consistently delivering its full available sound.
The Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module gives the driver direct control of the exhaust valve from one compact four-button wireless remote. Three dedicated operating modes — Fully Open, Fully Closed and OEM — are combined with a programmable Memory function that automatically restores your preferred setting each time the vehicle is started.
Fully Open mode commands the valve to open completely and remain open independently of the selected BMW driving mode, producing a stronger and more consistent exhaust note. On vehicles fitted with the standard BMW exhaust, this reveals more of the depth, volume and character already present without requiring the exhaust system to be replaced. When paired with a louder aftermarket valved exhaust, it allows the system to deliver its full sound without the factory valve strategy continually reducing the volume.
Unlike basic valve bypass controllers that provide only open or factory-controlled operation, the Competition+ module also includes a dedicated Fully Closed setting for quieter operation and an OEM mode that immediately restores the original BMW exhaust valve control strategy.

The Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module has been developed as a complete BMW exhaust valve control system rather than a simple open-or-factory bypass.
The system is the result of extensive testing, years of direct feedback from BMW owners and practical experience with the strengths and limitations of existing exhaust valve controllers. The objective was to bring together every useful function an owner is likely to want while retaining straightforward installation, intuitive operation and hardware designed for long-term use.

THE FOUR KEY CONTROL FEATURES
The Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module combines three dedicated operating modes — Fully Open, Fully Closed and OEM — with a programmable Memory function that restores your preferred setting each time the vehicle is started.
OPEN MODE - FULLY OPEN
Commands the exhaust valve to remain fully open, independently of the selected BMW driving mode. This provides consistent access to the full sound and character available from the factory or compatible aftermarket valved exhaust system.
CLOSED MODE - FULLY CLOSED
Commands the exhaust valve to remain fully closed when quieter exhaust operation is preferred. Unlike a basic controller that simply hands control back to the vehicle, Fully Closed mode provides a dedicated closed-valve setting. Please refer to the Important Operating Notice below for usage guidelines and information.
OEM - FACTORY SETTINGS
Immediately returns control of the exhaust valve to the vehicle’s original BMW programming. The valve will once again operate automatically according to the factory control strategy, selected driving mode and current driving conditions.
MEMORY
Allows your preferred operating mode to be saved and automatically restored each time the vehicle is started. Once the start-up preference has been set, there is no need to manually select the same mode at the beginning of every drive.

COMPETITION+ WIRELESS REMOTE
The custom four-button wireless remote provides direct access to the three operating modes— Fully Open, Fully Closed and OEM —along with the programmable Memory function.
The remote is supplied pre-paired to the control module and requires no additional setup before installation. Wireless operation also removes the need to route switches or control wiring through the vehicle’s interior.
A removable, low-profile cabin mount is included, allowing the remote to be positioned securely within easy reach. The remote can also be removed from the mount, stored separately inside the vehicle or attached to a key ring.

SIMPLE 5-10 MINUTE INSTALLATION
Installation is completely plug-and-play and can generally be completed in approximately 5–10 minutes, with no cutting, splicing or permanent modification of the factory wiring.
Before beginning, ensure the vehicle is switched off and the exhaust system has cooled completely.
1. LOCATE THE EXHAUST VALVE ACTUATOR(S)
These are generally positioned on the inlet pipes or outlets of the rear silencer. Single valve vehicles will have one actuator, while dual valve vehicles will have two.
2. DISCONNECT THE FACTORY WIRING
Use the supplied release tool to carefully disengage the locking clip, then unplug the original vehicle wiring connector from the exhaust valve actuator. Do not pull directly on the wiring.
3. CONNECT THE COMPETITION+ MODULE
Plug the Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module directly into the factory valve actuator, then connect the vehicle’s original wiring plug to the matching connector on the module. Ensure both connections are fully seated and securely locked into place.
4. CHECK THE MODULE FITMENT
Once connected, check that the module sits freely in its intended position and is not contacting the exhaust, heat shielding, bodywork or any surrounding components. Also ensure the wiring is not pinched or resting against a hot or moving part.
5. REPEAT FOR DUAL VALVE VEHICLES
On vehicles equipped with two exhaust valves, repeat the same process on the second valve before switching on the ignition or operating the remote.
6. TEST THE SYSTEM
Once all modules have been installed, switch the vehicle ignition on without starting the engine. Press the Fully Open button on the supplied remote and visually confirm that the exhaust valve or valves operate correctly. Test the remaining functions before driving the vehicle.
The installation is completely reversible. To return the vehicle to its original configuration, remove the Competition+ module or modules and reconnect the factory wiring plugs directly to the exhaust valve actuators.

IMPORTANT OPERATING NOTICE — FULLY CLOSED MODE
Fully Closed mode is intended only for situations where quieter exhaust operation is required, such as during start-up, at idle or while cruising under light engine load.
It is not intended for performance driving, sustained high-load operation, hard acceleration or full-throttle use. Operating the vehicle with the exhaust valve held closed in these conditions may increase exhaust backpressure and temperatures, which could result in damage to the engine, turbochargers, exhaust system or related components.
Before accelerating heavily or driving the vehicle under increased engine load, the controller must be switched to either OEM or Fully Open mode.
The vehicle owner and driver are responsible for selecting an operating mode appropriate to the driving conditions. The Competition+ product warranty does not cover damage to the vehicle, exhaust system or related components caused by incorrect installation, misuse, continued operation in an unsuitable mode or failure to follow these operating instructions. No guarantee is provided against vehicle damage resulting from improper use of Fully Closed mode.

The Competition+ Exhaust Valve Control Module | Single Valve is engineered specifically for compatible BMW F-Series and G-Series models equipped with one factory electronic exhaust valve actuators.
