APPLICATION LIST
BMW assigns a variety of part numbers to define TPMS sensors, which are determined by the production month and date of your vehicle (this is not to be confused with the Model Year of the vehicle, often represented as "MY2014" for example).
Please use the application chart below to help determine which TPMS sensor is correct for your specific vehicle. BMW is constantly updating these part numbers, and due to the sensitive nature of this part, we ask that all customers double check part number they require.
If you have any questions or would like to confirm your selection prior to ordering, please feel free to contact us.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
When installing, the valve stem may feel tight before it is fully seated. You must keep tightening until the locking flange breaks and allows the stem to be fully tightened to seal. Once broken, this flange acts as a thread locker to prevent the valve stem from loosening while driving. The installation torque spec is 35 in-lbs (4 Nm).
Sensors are preprogrammed to work with your vehicle, however, you will need to initialise (synchronise) them to your vehicle per the process outlined in your owners manual.

COLOUR MATCHING / RECOMMENDATIONS
Selecting the right valve stem colour helps achieve a cohesive and professional finish for your wheel setup. While all valve stem finishes will function identically, choosing one that complements your wheel colour can enhance the overall appearance and maintain a clean, purposeful aesthetic.
The list below outlines the valve stem colour combinations recommended by the APEX team to best match each available wheel finish.

THE NEW GENERATION OF SENSORS FROM HUF INTELLISENS
Huf is the OE supplier of direct measuring tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) to car manufacturers across Europe, USA, and Asia. Huf has also developed the universal sensor "IntelliSens" for the independent aftermarket which carries the same OE quality.
IntelliSens is fitted directly to the valve and measures the tyre pressure and temperature from the inside of every tyre. This data is then displayed on the dashboard by a control unit. This method of measurement is not only faster, but also more accurate than indirect methods that use ABS/ESP sensors. Whether you are purchasing a new set of wheels and tyres, or simply replacing old faulty sensors, Apex has you covered.
THE BENEFITS FOR THE DRIVERS
ADDED SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE
A study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA, USA) showed that vehicles with a tyre pressure at the recommended level are much more likely to be involved in an accident due to tyre damage. Detecting and eliminating tyre pressure problems early on improves drivability and prevents accidents caused by tyre damage or failure.
As driving enthusiasts, we all want to extract the most performance out of our vehicles. By running optimum tyre pressures, tyre performance and longevity will be maximised. Properly working TPMS sensors ensure drivers are informed with accurate readings so adjustments can be made if necessary.
REDUCES THE COST OF DRIVING
The TPMS helps to extend the lifespan of a tyre. A tyre with 20% less pressure than the recommended level shortens the lifetime of the tyre tread by up to 25%. Switching to a direct measurement TPMS offers financial benefits through the extended service life.
GREENER ROADS AND IMPROVED MPG
Driving with the correct air pressure can lower fuel costs by 1-3%. By reducing the fuel consumption and extending the lifetime of the tyres, IntelliSens contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
WHY REPLACE SENSORS WHEN INSTALLING NEW WHEELS?
BECAUSE YOUR CAR NEEDS THEM
If your BMW was factory-equipped with tyre pressure monitoring sensors (typically option S2VBA), then any new wheels you install will also require TPMS sensors to function correctly. Without them, the vehicle will display persistent warning lights, and on newer BMW models (post-2013), certain driving modes or performance features may be restricted. To maintain full functionality and avoid these issues, TPMS sensors must be installed. If your car wasn't factory-equipped with TPMS sensors, you do not need to install them.
SENSOR AGE
TPMS sensors use non-serviceable batteries that typically last about 5-7 years. While they can often last upwards of 10 years, any sensor this old is on borrowed time and we recommend replacement.
LABOUR COSTS
Because of the time and cost associated with removing the tyres to replace these sensors, we recommend installing new sensors at the same time as a new set of wheels since the tyres will already be removed. The cost to dismount and re-mount 4 tyres can often exceed that of simply replacing the sensors proactively.
PERFORMANCE AND CONVENIENCE
If you’re buying a second set of wheels dedicated to either track use, you’ll save time and money by installing new sensors, rather than having to swap sensors between wheels.
WHAT ABOUT FOR TRACK/RACE USE?
For dedicated track or race applications, many enthusiasts choose to run wheels without TPMS sensors. Since tyre pressures are checked and adjusted frequently during events, the continuous monitoring provided by TPMS is less critical in this environment. However, removing or omitting sensors will trigger a warning light on vehicles originally equipped with TPMS and may restrict certain driving modes on newer BMW models (post-2013). Drivers who prefer to disable the system entirely often use aftermarket coding solutions — though this should be done carefully and at their own risk.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Always verify your vehicle’s production date before ordering, as TPMS part numbers can vary significantly. Ensure all four sensors on your vehicle are from the same manufacturer to maintain compatibility. APEX recommends professional installation and proper torque procedures to prevent air leaks or valve stem damage.
APEX TPMS Sensors by Huf come with a 12-month warranty.

Fantastic customer service from the team at Southern BM. Expertly repaired my 2011 323i and did so without the attitude and excessive cost of a dealer. Thank you and I will be back for all future servicing.
