Brake squeal is fundamentally a vibration issue.

That is the high-pitched brake squeal many G8x owners are familiar with.

High-performance braking systems can be particularly susceptible because their friction materials need to operate across a much wider range of conditions than those found in an ordinary passenger car.

The factory G8x brake pad isn't designed purely around being quiet when gently stopping from suburban speeds.

Moisture can also temporarily make the factory brakes noisier.

The standard G8x brake discs use an iron braking surface. After washing the vehicle or driving in wet conditions, moisture can remain on the disc and quickly create a very light layer of surface corrosion.

The first few brake applications normally clean this from the disc.

Until that happens, however, additional noise or a slightly different brake feel can be noticeable.

Several light brake applications after washing the vehicle will generally help dry and clean the braking surfaces.
