BMW/MINI ECU/DME OBDII Bench Unlock | For Tuning With bootmod3
Pro Tuning Freaks have been working tirelessly since late 2015 to create a truly unique cloud based performance flash tuning platform offering benefits both end users and tuners in ways prior unimaginable! bootmod3 is a full custom tuning platform for the factory engine computer (DME) available for Windows, macOS and mobile apps for iOS and Android. Users can change their tunes through the OBD port in their own driveway using the web or mobile apps taking just seconds to do so.
The Bosch ECU/DME installed in the latest generation of F-Series and G-Series BMW/MINI models are locked from the factory to prevent tuning modifications via the OBDII port. This typically affects most models with BMW software from March-2019 onwards (e.g., M140i, M340i, M2 Competition, M3, M4, M5, M8, etc.).
To enable OBDII tuning capabilities for bootmod3 on your BMW F & G Series, the DME/ECU must be reprogrammed with a new patch that allows for OBDII tuning/reprogramming. This one-time patch is completely safe and does not affect the vehicle’s factory performance.
This ECU/DME bench unlock service is available only for models built before June-2020. For ECU/DME unlocks on BMW/MINI models built after June-2020, our FEMTO DME Unlock service is available here.
HOW DO I HAVE MY DME/ECU UNLOCKED?
We offer both an in-house and mail-in service to have your ECU/DME OBDII capabilities unlocked.
Mail-In Service
You'll need to remove the ECU/DME from your car and send it to us for patching. Shipping it to us is not included in your purchase, but the overnight return via FedEx/TNT Express is (cost added at checkout). The turnaround time typically ranges from 2 to 7 days, depending on your location.
In-House Service (Melbourne Only)
After purchasing the OBD bench unlock, we’ll contact you to schedule a suitable time to have the unlock performed at our Moorabbin facility. The cost includes the OBD unlock only, and additional labour charges may apply depending on your model. The process typically takes 1–3 hours.
WHAT IF MY DME/ECU IS RE-LOCKED?
Our DME/ECU OBDII Bench Unlock includes a 24-month guarantee. If your ECU/DME is re-locked due to BMW programming within this period, we’ll unlock it again at no charge (excluding any freight or labour costs). This guarantee is valid only for the original owner/purchaser, and terms & conditions apply.
