FITMENT & REQUIREMENTS
Suitable for rear-wheel-drive BMW 5 Series E34 Touring (518i, 520i, 525i, 525td, 525tds, 530i, 540i) models only. Refer to the model/variant list at the bottom of this page for full compatibility.
For vehicles without factory electronic damping (EDC).
Height adjustable on the front and rear axles (threaded strut housings).
When using original tyres, wheel offset spacers may be required.
The self-leveling suspension system must be deactivated.
For front dome bearing caps with a diameter of 80 mm, new parts are required. (BMW Part No.: dome bearings 31 331 139 452 + washer 31 331 116 983 + collar 31 331 110 196).
Original struts need to be sent in advance for modification.
Coilover kits where the strut housings are being modified are only availible in galvanized finish.
For vehicles that are equipped with an M10 thread on the rear shock absorber as standard, the top mount must be converted to an M12 thread. The following add-on parts from the vehicle manufacturer are required for this. (BMW part no.: top mount 37 12 1 129 867, support disk 37 12 1 114 729, plate 37 12 1 130 122).

ABOUT KW VARIANT 3 (V3) CLASSIC COILOVERS
KW V3 Classic coilovers combine adjustable ride height with independently adjustable compression and rebound damping for classic and modern classic vehicles.
They bring KW’s modern damper technology to older chassis, providing greater scope to refine handling, body control and ride comfort. The suspension is developed around each vehicle, helping it work effectively with modern tyres while preserving its distinctive driving character.
INDEPENDENT COMPRESSION AND REBOUND ADJUSTMENT
Separate low-speed compression and rebound adjustment allows different aspects of the suspension’s behaviour to be tuned individually.
Compression damping influences how the suspension supports the vehicle during braking, cornering and acceleration. Rebound damping controls how quickly the suspension extends again, affecting body movement and the response to changing loads.
Together, these adjustments allow the recommended KW setup to be refined for your driving preferences and wheel and tyre combination.
The low-speed adjustments help control body movement, while the high-speed valves respond to faster damper movements caused by sharp bumps and road joints. This allows the suspension to provide body support while remaining responsive to uneven surfaces.
Low-speed and high-speed describe movement within the damper. The high-speed valve settings remain preset by KW.
MODERN DEVELOPMENT FOR AN OLDER PLATFORM
KW develops each Classic application around the vehicle’s suspension design, using modern testing methods to establish the spring and damper setup.
Selected applications include newly manufactured front struts with forged steering knuckles. These provide a complete replacement assembly without requiring the original struts to be reworked.
Construction and installation requirements depend on the application.
CONTINUOUSLY ADJUSTABLE RIDE HEIGHT
Threaded height adjustment allows the lowering to be tailored within the kit’s specified range.
This provides flexibility to refine the stance alongside the damping setup, creating a coordinated upgrade for both the vehicle’s appearance and road behaviour.

FROM KW V3 TO KW V3 CLASSIC
The standard KW V3 combines adjustable lowering with independent compression and rebound control. KW V3 Classic carries these same principles into applications developed for older vehicles.
The evolution lies in bringing contemporary damper technology and testing methods to the classic chassis, with dedicated hardware where its original construction requires it.
This gives classic owners the tuning flexibility associated with the V3 range, supported by a suspension package developed specifically for their vehicle.
